The Accidental Law Student: Embracing a New Chapter at 47

(its not me cosplaying as GRU)

I've never been one to shy away from challenges, but embracing the world of law at 47, after a two-decade hiatus from academia, is certainly a new adventure. I'm a proud recent graduate with a Business Administration Major in Marketing Management degree, and I'm currently juggling the roles of husband, father, Director for Ad & Promo at Manila Broadcasting Company, and, oh yeah, law student.

I'm not going to lie; the transition from marketing, a field where creativity and innovation reign supreme, to the intricacies of legal concepts and case studies, has been a mind-bender. I've spent countless hours poring over textbooks, my pen hovering over pages, struggling to recall the forgotten art of cursive handwriting.

Yet, amidst the whirlwind of legal terminology and late-night study sessions, there's an undeniable thrill to this new chapter in my life. It's like rediscovering a forgotten passion, a dormant intellectual curiosity that's been reawakened.

I've even managed to memorize the first parts of the Constitution, from the Preamble to Article III, a feat that still surprises me, considering my penchant for misplacing my keys and forgetting my phone password. I guess there's a certain allure to legal jargon that keeps my brain engaged.

Juggling my professional and personal commitments with law school hasn't been easy. There have been moments of self-doubt, questioning my sanity for taking on such a demanding endeavor at this stage in my life. But the support of my family and friends, along with the unwavering belief in my own abilities, has kept me going.

As a self-proclaimed conservative thinker, I find myself drawn to the framework of law, its emphasis on order, justice, and the protection of individual rights. It's a world of logic and reason, a place where I can indulge my analytical mind and grapple with complex issues that have the power to shape society.

I'm not sure where this legal journey will lead, but I'm embracing the ride with open arms. It's an opportunity to expand my horizons, challenge my perspectives, and perhaps even make a positive impact on the world around me.

So, here's to the accidental law student, the 47-year-old with a newfound passion for legal intricacies, the man who's rediscovering the joy of learning and the thrill of intellectual exploration. It's never too late to embark on a new adventure, to challenge yourself, and to embrace the unexpected twists and turns that life throws our way.
